WHY YOU NEVER WIN CHASING VIRAL IN SOCIAL MEDIA SELLING

Would it be cool as sh!t to have a post go viral and garner millions of views? Hell yeah, but would it really translate into success for you as a Selling Professional? Nah...not really.

You would probably enjoy a moment in the sun, but in terms of its impact on your results, you'd most likely be met with disappointment if prolonged and sustained selling success is your true goal. When I first began my career, I really believed that the most successful salespeople had a secret superpower, and that they possessed magical abilities to close deals and sell more often. Jeeeeee-zus was I wrong!

One of the most influential people in my career and my life wrote a quote on our Sales Ranking Board at the very top that has stuck in my head for more than 35 years.

"CONSISTENCY IS THE TRUE MEASURE OF PERFORMANCE."

That really put a pin in my thought-bubble, because I had always been under the impression that high-performance Selling Pros had some superpower that I didn't have or have yet. So, when I finally understood it in the way I needed to, it helped me to develop the mindset that drives long-term, sustainable success and high-performance.

This revelation freed me of the self-imposed pressure to become a superhero in selling, but it hyper-focused my attention on the needs, wants and priorities of my clients. This is especially applicable and absolutely critical when it comes to developing and executing a successful social media strategy that creates a fat pipeline of organic leads.

I also, for the first time, recognized that it would take far more than the traditional approach to selling skills development to succeed at the highest levels and drive my results exponentially. It took me some time to put it all together, but I realized that it wasn't just the traditional skills in terms of selling that created scalable success, it required more.

Now, there is no shortage of "sales gurus", spandex warrior cult leaders and hyperbolic social media "influencers" who wanna confuse and mislead salespeople into thinking that social media is all about attention. Self-promotion and peacocking around every feed they pollute with push-up contests and pose-offs, shock vids or pure insults masquerading as "challenges" is clown show content. That's not what your prospective clients are looking for...like ever.

I NEEDED TO DRIVE ORGANIC LEADS, ESTABLISH MY BRAND IN THE MARKEPLACE AND DEVELOP A REPEATABLE AND CONSISTENT SYSTEM FOR MORE THAN JUST SELLING. I NEEDED TO BECOME A BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXPERT.

Real, actual people are never going to pay any serious attention to a photo of "another happy customer", a picture of our product or a self-promoting shout & tout post about our latest performance achievements.

Trust in us and confidence in their decision to engage with us is the holy grail for true business development experts.

PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW THAT WE GET THEM...NOT THAT WE "GOT" 'EM!

Prospects don't generally believe the lowest price claims, the best service claims or the market rank claims...And that's perfectly OK, because when we flush out all the hype and bullshit content, all they really care about is how will we help and serve them in the interest of guiding them to the very best decision for them ot their business with our expertise and experience in helping other real, actual people who are just like them.

What they are really interested in is how to get even better results, leverage an opportunity or how to solve a problem. Period. Hard stop.

This applies to organic social media lead generation...So, what is great content and how can we use that content to organically generate high-value, red-hot leads every day?

GREAT CONTENT IS NOT ABOUT SHOCK & AWE OR GOING VIRAL...IT'S ABOUT HIGH-QUALITY, CONSISTENT ENGAGEMENT WITH A SPECIFIC AUDIENCE USING RELEVANT CONTENT, INFORMATION OR ENTERTAINMENT THAT CONNECTS THEM TO US OR OUR PRODUCT.

People want to laugh, learn, think, grow and connect through relevant social media content. They are far less interested in seeing posts about you, "another happy customer" or your product, service or platform. That rarely, if ever, resonates or generates any real interest or attention that results in a like, follow, share, repost or the holy grail inquiry/lead.

Instead, it's far more effective to focus on the audience that we wish to serve and sell to with content that they value and appreciate in terms of getting a laugh, learning something new or a sharing a story in a post about a relatable experience that confirms to them that we understand them and can help them.

One of the key strategies we teach in our 7PILLARS™ program is what we call SOCIAL MEDIA MATH™. It is the most effective, easy-to-execute strategy that anyone can understand, because it breaks down the basic math of social media consistency and how exponentially powerful it is when executed over time.

IMAGINE CREATING A PIPELINE OF NEVER-ENDING LEADS AND PROSPECTS WITHOUT HAVING TO ENTER A PUSH-UP CONTEST, RANT ABOUT DOMINATING OTHERS OR MINDLESSLY SCREAM AND REPEAT AFFIRMATION CHANTS.

When content is delivered in a consistent, relevant and engaging perspective, people will see us as experts and trusted resources serving them in the interest of helping them achieve their objectives, not ours. In order for that to happen, we have to stop creating content that speaks from our perspective and refocus on content in the context that is relatable for the real, actual people we wish to serve and sell to.
